 Tony Vidmar
Position: Defender One of the most experienced players in the Australia squad, Tony Vidmar has won over 70 international caps. Yet despite being the third most-capped Socceroo of all time, Vidmar came in for criticism from some quarters during Frank Farina's time at the helm. However, the arrival of Guus Hiddink as coach led to a dramatic upturn in form culminating in a heroic performance in the tense World Cup play-off victory over Uruguay. Like many Australian players, Vidmar has tried his luck in British football, but with limited success. After spells at Rangers, Middlesbrough and Cardiff he returned to former club NAC Breda of the Dutch Eredivisie in summer 2005.
