Carlos Hernandez is a gifted goalscoring midfielder who is tipped for big things.

He scored five goals in the qualifying stages - only Paulo Wanchope scored more for the Costa Ricans - including two stunning strikes in the 3-0 win over the USA that secured qualification for Germany 2006.

He also has some major tournament experience having represented his country at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, helping Costa Rica to the quarter-finals before losing to eventual gold medalists Argentina.

But this will be Hernandez's first chance to show his skills on the game's biggest stage.

His reputation for scoring spectacular long-range goals from midfield definitely makes him one to watch at this summer's tournament.
