![]() 2 Darijo Srna
Position: Defender/Midfielder Dubbed the Croatian David Beckham, Darijo Srna was his country's joint-highest scorer in qualifying along with striker Dado Prso with five goals and as such must be considered an almost certain starter come the Finals themselves. Blessed with much more pace than Beckham, Srna is highly rated across Europe and has recently been linked with clubs of the calibre of Liverpool and Juventus. He plays much of his club football at right-back and has been used in that position by Zlatko Kranjcar but it is as an out-and-out right winger that Srna is at his best. The Shakhtar Donetsk man has boundless energy and gets up and down the right flank, overlapping his winger when playing at full-back and helping out in defence when pushed further forward into a more attacking position. Formerly of Neretva Metkovic and Hajduk Split, Srna made his international debut in November 2002 and has gone on to become an integral part of the set-up, gaining himself a reputation as a superb crosser of the ball able to chip in with valuable goals. In recent months he has reportedly become frustrated with life in Ukraine and this tournament gives him the perfect stage to exhibit his talents to potential suitors.
