Position: Midfielder Although never making the grade with the English Premiership champions, Jiri Jarosik could light up the World Cup if he lives up to his reputation. The attacking midfielder may not be the fastest but he does possess a lethal shot which will give even the best goalkeepers real problems if he's given the chance to play some part in Germany. Although limited to largely substitute berths for his country, his impressive performances for loan club Birmingham this season could persuade Karel Bruckner to give him a chance this summer. Jarosik started his career at Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic where he impressed immensly before sealing a move to CSKA Moscow for a Russian record transfer fee of around $5 million in 2003. He won the Russian Premier League in his first season as he became one of the most prominent players in the country but in January 2005 he was snapped up by Chelsea. With the competition for places at Stamford Bridge too great, the 28-year-old was farmed out to Birmingham on loan but he was unable to prevent the Blues slide to relegation despite contributing some cracking long-range strikes.
