Blazek - Petr Cech's understudy.
16 Jaromir Blazek

Position: Goalkeeper
Born: 29.12.72
Club: Sparta Prague

There's very little you can predict in football, but one certainty for this summer is that Jaromir Blazek will be warming the Czech Republic's bench.

Despite being a fine goalkeeper in his own right, Blazek has spent much of his international career as an understudy since finally making his debut in 2000.

Having out-lasted Tomas Postulka and then Pavel Srnicek, Blazek was subsequently sidelined by the emergence of the Chelsea stopper Petr Cech - widely seen as one of the best goalkeepers in the world today.

The 33-year-old only featured in a solitary qualifying game but has unquestioned ability to be a reliable replacement should injury or suspension strike the giant frame of Cech.

However, this is the sort of luck unlikely to fall the way of the man who has managed just one appearance in Euro 2000 and Euro 2004 combined.
