Kaviedes - talented but inconsistent.
10 Ivan Kaviedes

Position: Forward
Born: 24.10.77

Ivan Kaviedes was the golden boy of Ecuadorian football back in 1998, when he made his debut against Brazil.

That season he scored an incredible 43 goals for his club side Emelec, but he has failed to settle in one place since.

He became the first Ecuadorian to play in Serie A when he joined Perugia where he did reasonably well but coach Vujadin Boskov concluded that he was too casual and he joined Spanish side Celta Vigo in 1999.

Kaviedes failed to established himself at Celta, though, and loans at Valladolid and FC Porto were equally unsuccessful.

In 2004 Crystal Palace signed him in the hope that he would score the goals to keep them in the Premiership, but he made little impact and returned to Ecuador in the January transfer window.

Kaviedes has infuriated managers throughout his career because he is so clearly very talented - he has a deft touch and his speciality is shooting on the turn, but he all too often fails to produce.

If he plays at the World Cup, then defenders should underestimate him at their peril because he is a fine finisher, but he may struggle to break into the side.
