Sidney Govou is striker or right-winger with such pace, skill and agility he was dubbed the new Thierry Henry when he was a France Under-21 player.

He joined current club Lyon as a youngster from Puy-en-Velay and burst onto the scene when he scored two goals against Bayern Munich in a Champions League match in 2001.

Since then Govou has flourished as Lyon have dominated French football and made big strides in Europe. He has scored goals consistently on both fronts and become a regular in the French squad.

Rumours of a move to England have been circulating for the past two years but he has so far resisted although if he does harbour ambitions to make a move then a good summer at the World Cup will do him no harm.
