Lehmann - finally has his chance.

Jens Lehmann will be Germany's No 1 this summer after fighting off stiff competition from fierce rival Oliver Kahn.

Although the Arsenal stopper played second fiddle to Kahn at Euro 2000, World Cup 2002 and Euro 2004, Lehmann has fought his way into pole position with a series of fine displays for both club and country.

The 36-year-old has been in sensational form this season, keeping an incredible ten clean sheets in Arsenal's unbeaten march to the Champions League final.

Of course, his greatest moment came when he saved a last-minute penalty from Villarreal's Juan Roman Riquelme in the semi-final to secure his team's passage to Paris.

Lehmann came to the Premiership in 2003 from Dortmund, where he won the Bundesliga title, and immediately helped Arsene Wenger's side go an entire season unbeaten to become champions.

The following year a lack of confidence saw him dropped from the side but eventually he regained the goalkeeper's jersey and saved the decisive spot-kick in Arsenal's FA Cup final triumph over Manchester United.

Standing at over six feet tall, the giant German can stop anything the world's best strikers can throw at him. He's an imposing figure between the posts and is an expert at dealing with crosses - even if he ends up jostling with strikers.
