At 27, Ebrahim Mirzapour has already won over 60 caps for his country and is firmly established as Iran's No 1.

He faced plenty of scepticism when handed his international debut at 23 against Bosnia and, despite a nervous start, won the confidence of his team-mates and Iran's fans.

A towering presence between the sticks, Mirzapour is an agile goalkeeper who missed just one game in Iran's qualifying campaign.

Doubts remain over his kicking and concentration but Mirzapour's solid performances in the qualifiers and 2004 Asian Cup have assured him of his place in Germany.

The goalkeeper was part of the Foolad side that won the 2004/2005 Iranian Professional League.
