A member of Iran's 2002 Asian Games gold medal-winning side, Mohammad Nosrati has become one of the most dependable figures in the national side.

Returning home a hero from Busan, Nosrati was quickly given the chance to prove himself at full international level, and was handed his debut against Jordan.

Since then Nosrati's solid performances have ensured his place at the heart of Iran's defence.

He missed just one game on the road to Germany and scored the only goal of the game against Bahrain to seal Iran's place at the World Cup.

His aerial ability makes him a powerful presence at the back and a danger at set-pieces, with his powerful headers contributing the odd goal.

Nosrati currently plays for Pas Tehran, one of Iran's top sides, and was part of the championship-winning side in 2003/2004.
