Bonaventure Kalou is one of the Ivory Coast's most successful exports having played his club football in Europe for almost nine years.

His travels started in 1997 when Feyenoord took him to Holland from ASEC Abidjan and he excelled in his six seasons in Rotterdam, playing a part in the UEFA Cup-winning side of 2002.

He moved to Auxerre in 2003 and his reputation grew further after Guy Roux switched him from the right wing to a central attacking midfield role.

In his second season in France he was magnificent; scoring and creating goals as well as terrifying defences with his dribbling and coming third in the vote for the Ligue 1 Player of the Year behind Michael Essien and Juninho Pernambucano.

With numerous clubs chasing his signature, he signed for PSG in July 2005 where his exellent form has continued.

An exciting player to watch, Kalou can play in midfield or in attack and could find himself up against his younger brother Salomon - who has opted to play for Holland - at the World Cup.
