Now cast in the role of dependable back-up at international level, Olivier Tebily can operate at either centre-back or right-back.

Having begun his career at Chateauroux in France he made a £200,000 move to Sheffield United in 1998 but played just eight matches there before Celtic shelled out £1.25million for his services.

The powerful defender endured a tough time in Scotland, though, and the Bhoys fans never took to him as he struggled to find his best form.

His former manager at Sheffield United, Steve Bruce, had faith in him though, and took Tebily to Birmingham for £700,000 in 2002.

The big man quickly became a cult figure at St Andrews and his inspirational performances in the play-offs that brought Birmingham Premiership status gave him the popularity he never had at Celtic.

His first Premiership season in 2002/2003 was disrupted by a knee injury and he has been in and out of the team ever since but he remains a reliable part of squads at both club and international level.
