Along with fellow striker Maciej Zurawski, Tomasz Frankowski emerged from the qualifying campaign as the Poles' joint top scorer.

Yet it has only been in the last 18 months that the 31-year-old frontman has really established himself as a regular at international level.

After making his debut in April 1999, Frankowski made four appearances in just over a year but after scoring against Israel in November 2000 had to wait almost four years for his next cap.

As a result, he is well short of the tally of strike partner Zurawski but his goals-per-game ratio stands up to the closest of scrutiny particularly after netting seven times in qualifying.

Currently playing his club football for Wolves in England's second tier after becoming their record signing in January, Frankowski has travelled far in his career, listing clubs in France, Japan, Spain and his homeland on his CV.

Hardly the most creative player in the world but his nickname - 'The Goal Hunter' - says it all about a feared poacher who will never knowingly miss a chance to get a shot away.
