An attacking midfielder who can operate on either wing or through the middle, Maniche was a key player in the Portugal side that reached the final of Euro 2004 on home soil.

That tournament was the culmination of an astonishing two years for Maniche, who left Benfica in 2002 to link up with former boss Jose Mourinho at Porto.

He was then one of the star players as Porto won back-to-back league titles as well as the UEFA Cup and the Champions League.

Despite being linked with a host of top European clubs, including several in the Premiership, Maniche opted to head to Russia and join Dinamo Moscow.

His career has stalled somewhat since, but a loan switch to Chelsea to once again link up with Mourinho could re-ignite the talent that took this hugely gifted player to the very top of the game.
