Helder Postiga came through the youth ranks at Porto and exploded on to the scene in the title-winning 2002/03 season under Jose Mourinho.

He was considered a hot prospect throughout Europe and Tottenham were delighted to pay £6.25million for him in the summer of 2003.

But Postiga failed to make an impression at Spurs, scoring just two goals and never really earning himself a run in the team.

Yet at Euro 2004 he showed English fans his worth with the late equaliser that took the England v Portugal quarter-final into extra-time.

He returned to Porto that summer in a deal that saw Pedro Mendes going to White Hart Lane but he didn't recover the form he showed early in his career and joined St Etienne on loan after falling out with Co Adriaanse.

However, he remains on Porto's books and at international level he has already proved he can be a threat should he get his chance.
