![]() 4 Igor Duljaj
Position: Midfielder Igor Duljaj is typical of the current Serbia and Montenegro side with his dogged performances and tenacity contributing to the Blues' formidable defensive record in qualifying. Duljaj began his career at Partizan Belgrade, eventually making his debut in 1998, after eight years in the club's academy. By 2000 Duljaj had picked up a league and cup winners' medals and was becoming renowned for his tireless work rate in defensive midfield. He was part of the Partizan squad that qualified for the Champions League in the 2003/2004 season by infamously knocking Newcastle out on penalties. Despite Partizan's failiure to reach the knockout stages of the competition, Duljaj's commanding performances earned him a move to Shakhtar Donetsk, where he joined countryman Goran Gavrancic. An international regular since making his debut for Yugoslavia in November 2000, Duljaj's selfless attitude has played a key role in the emergence of Serbia and Montenegro. This, along with his unflagging ability to get up and down, makes Duljaj an indispensable member of Ilija Petkovic's commited group of players.
