Position: Midfielder One of the most experienced members of the Serbia and Montenegro squad, Predrag Djordjevic will be relied upon to provide creative spark in a side more renowned for its defensive qualities. In 1993 Djordjevic quit Belgrade, where he had played briefly for Crvena Zvezdva and Spartak Subotica, for an adventurous move to Paniliakos, then residing in Greece's third division. His goals and dynamism in midfield helped the small club to successive promotions and, after a solid year in the top flight, earned him a move to Olympiacos. Djordjevic thrived at Olympiacos with his dazzling displays and impressive tally of goals helping the side to five successive Greek titles. While the 33-year-old has racked up an unlikely eight league titles in Greece he has also proved himself on the more demanding Champions League stage, including a stunning hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in 2002. His barrelling runs forward and ability with a dead ball make him a constant threat, while his record of assists is as impressive as his goalscoring. Djordjevic made his debut for Yugoslavia in September 1998 but missed out on a place in Euro 2000. Since the country became Serbia and Montenegro he has been a regular and his on-field leadership is another asset that makes him a popular figure for club and country.
