Kim Kallstrom caused quite a stir when he burst on to the scene for BK Hacken aged just 17 with the attacking midfielder talked up as the future of the national team.

And When Hacken were relegated from Sweden's top division soon after some of Europe's biggest clubs were rumoured to be circling.

He opted to stay in Sweden to continue his footballing education with Djurgardens, who won the title twice in his time there before Rennes took him to France for 2million euros during the 2003/2004 season.

He might not yet be the superstar that many had predicted in his youth, but Kallstrom has put in some very impressive performances for Rennes, and is now looking to become a key player for Sweden.

Very dangerous from his preferred postion in the hole behind two strikers, he is creative, a good goalscorer, and is physically strong.

He will compete with the more experienced Anders Svensson for a starting berth at the World Cup, and often finds himself replacing Svensson late on.
