Just a few short years ago Magnus Hedman was perhaps Sweden's brightest star, due partly to his brilliance as a goalkeeper but also because of his high-profile marriage to model Maagdalena Graf.

But recent seasons have seen his star wane as he has lost his place for both Sweden and Celtic, as well as divorcing his wife.

Hedman inherited the Sweden No 1shirt from Thomas Ravelli who retired in 1997 and sealed a £500,000 move to Coventry the same year.

He replaced Steve Ogrizovic at Highfield Road to great effect, and enjoyed a reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in England with his strength on crosses, quick reflexes and ability to organise his defence to the fore.

When Coventry were relegated in 2000, many of their players were sold off and despite constant rumours linking Hedman with some very big clubs, he stayed for another two years.

He eventually signed for Celtic in 2002 but his time there has been hampered by injury, and that has allowed Rab Douglas and David Marshall to move ahead of him in the pecking order.

Hedman played every match at both Euro 2000 and World Cup 2002 for Sweden, but the emergence of Andreas Isaksson consigned him to the bench for Euro 2004, and he has remained there ever since.
