Andriy Nesmachniy, like so many of his international team-mates, has followed the path from Dynamo Kiev youngster to Ukraine regular.

Since making his debut for Dynamo in 1996 at just 17, he has become the automatic first-choice right-back for both club and country.

He has good experience of top-level European competition, with 44 appearances in the Champions League, and has enjoyed considerable domestic success, winning four league titles and three Ukrainian Cups.

While superstars like Andriy Shevchenko steal the limelight, Ukraine's recent success has been built on a resilient defence, and Nesmachniy's steady performances have undoubtedly played a key role in their improvement.
