Cherundolo - overlapping full-back.
6 Steve Cherundolo

Position: Defender
Born: 19.02.79
Club: Hannover

A regular in qualifying - playing seven games as the USA booked their ticket to Germany - Steve Cherundolo has particular reason to look forward to this summer's Finals having missed the 2002 World Cup with a knee injury.

A pacy full-back who has good man-marking ability but is at his best pushing forward, the 27-year-old has become established in the side ahead of Chris Armas since making his debut at the age of 20, winning over 30 caps to date.

One of two members of the squad - along with Kasey Keller - to be playing his club football in Germany, Cherundolo joined Hannover 96 after leaving the University of Portland and had become a regular by the 2001-02 season.

He is likely to be employed as an overlapping full-back down the right, with Claudio Reyna tucked in on the right side of midfield, and will relish the chance to shine at the highest level in the country he currently calls home.
